Choosing from the Minwax stain colors, Early American is a fairly neutral and natural color that will go well with just about all wall colors. It has been my experience that lighter stain colors or even natural ones with no stain look good and has a timeless look that will not clash with any furniture or paint you may choose. If the home has low ceilings and is lacking in natural light then going with a light stain will help brighten the rooms and make the house feel more open and brighter. Dark stained floors work well in large rooms with high ceilings. However, it will also show more dust and wear than natural wood.
