Bathroom Cabinets and Sink Finishes: Day Two

Today, we conclude our posts on your considerations for finishes for your bathroom remodeling project. Yesterday we looked at the family of browns and those with red undertones. Today we look at the other end of the color spectrum: whites!

70 Inch Double Sink Vanity in Pearl White

White bath vanities offer a clean and fresh look to any bathroom remodel. Since this color is so neutral, it has been used in both modern and traditional designs. You’ll also find that the look of most white vanities is simple; so they match well with every motif. White vanities have been steadily gaining popularity and now can be found in many single and double sink varieties. In addition, since white matches every color, many people opt to use a unique hue for the paint on their walls.

A vanity is most often the central focal point of a bathroom, so using a white piece instantly adds brightness, where it otherwise may be lacking. The white glaze that is used to color these vanities covers any visible wood grain, so you can expect for your finish to be smooth.

Most countertop choices that are offered with these vanities are basic and beautiful. Hardware to match is also easily accessible as every finish looks dazzling next to a white background.

Antique White bath vanities, whether they are featured with single or double sinks, add a great touch to a traditionally styled bathroom. This finish is unique as it often appears worn or distressed, as the name suggests. That being said, those who purchase an antique white item can expect their vanity to appear ivory, off white, or in some cases, yellowed to give it the aged or “antique” look.

As far as color options to match, it is ideal to stay with a warm tone for the walls, to compliment the warm tone of the vanity. However, do not let this concept limit you. Warm tones can be found in almost every hue imaginable.

When looking for faucets or other hardware to match, try one in an antique brass or oil rubbed bronze variety. Chrome is rarely used but does provide a unique modern twist to this old style finish, especially when it’s adorned over a black countertop.
