As a follow up to their Home Warranty guide, Angie’s List offers these four tips to keep you from getting “hoodwinked by a home warranty service contract.”
- Check with your state’s dept. of insurance to make sure the company you’re considering is properly licensed to do business.
- Read the fine print and ask the company ANY and EVERY question you have about the contract!
- Inform your real estate agent about any denied claims. They may have a relationship with the company and may be able to call them on your behalf.
- Tell the company if their contractor did a good job or not. Many use a rating system and disperse the work accordingly. You could be helping out homeowners in the future!
