What is Fish Tape?

When doing research for what to have in a basic electrical tool kit, we knew we needed to look for some further information on one of the items Ace Hardware mentioned.  Fish tape? About.com had the answer for us. Fish tape is a thin, flat piece of steel wire that is used to “fish” an electrical wire through a pipe. At the end of this steel tape, there is an eye through which you can thread your bare wires to go through the pass. Super useful when running wires in your home! Fish tape can be found at any local home improvement store anywhere from $15.99 all the way to $84.99. You can also find simpler to use “fish sticks” to help you with a project where the area is not that long. We’re glad we checked this out—funny name, but great product!
